Kintsugi
A limited collection of three one-of-a-kind skate decks inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold. In kintsugi, the cracks are not hidden but honored, so the repair becomes part of the object’s beauty and its history. Each skate deck begins as a field of classic blue-and-white porcelain motifs: a flower pattern, a coiling dragon, and climbing lotus vines. Each surface is then carved by hand with fractures that are filled and traced in gold leaf, so no two are ever the same. Every skate deck is numbered, labeled, and signed by the artist. Edition Skate offers these skate decks for a limited time only. Hang one as a work of art, and carry the reminder that what’s been through something is worth more for it.
